The 78th Fraser Highlanders,
Fort Vancouver Garrison
2nd Regiment of Foot

Our Mission:
To preserve the heritage of a fighting clan whose brave actions changed
the course of history, to be charitable to others, and to raise awareness of hereditary hemochromatosis.
The Organization:
The Fort Vancouver Garrison is part of a larger organization headquartered in Montreal, Canada.
There are numerous garrisons throughout Canada and in the U.S., besides our own, there is the new Ft. Inverness
Garrison in Atlanta, Georgia.
Here are the links for them (Ft. Garry, Ft. Glengarry, Ft. Calgary, and Ft. Victoria do not have
websites yet that I know of yet!):

Hemochromatosis:
As one of our own members (Lieutenant Jeff Williams) suffered from the effects of late
diagnosis of hemochromatosis, it was deemed crucial that we focus much of our efforts
on an awareness campaign for this inherited disease, so that others may not undergo
the unnecessary suffering and permanent damage hemochromatosis can cause.
His story is told here . Once one is aware of the frequency and danger of hereditary
hemochromatosis, 99% of the battle against this disease is won. It's just that simple!

Company C, 79th Highlanders, New York Volunteers - They approached us at the Portland Highland Games and said  they were going up to the Seattle Highland Games, so we said "Hey, why not", and one of the gentleman gave a stirring reading of the Civil War battles they participated in at the Heritage Tent at the games.  That talk is shown in one of the pics in the Seattle Highland Games.
